Note:
The Travel Alert System is not prohibitive, the decision to travel or to adjust the travel plans in accordance with the information provided is individual. It is recommended that Macao residents to purchase travel insurance with international medical evacuation coverage before traveling, as well as to check with the insurance companies in case of doubt about the terms and conditions of the coverage.
Residents should be aware and always remember to respect local laws, customs and religious beliefs practiced in their travel destinations.

Ebola Virus | The Ebola virus disease (EVD is caused by infection with Ebola virus which belongs to the family called Filoviridae. Zika Virus
| Zika virus disease is an infectious disease caused by Zika virus which belongs to the genus Flavivirus associated with Japanese encephalitis, yellow fever and dengue fever. There are mainly two subtypes of Zika virus: the African strain and the Asian strain. Up till now, apart from the cases of Zika virus infection reported in Africa and the Americas, sporadic cases of infection have been reported in some Asian and European countries among returning travellers. |

Mers-CoV | Middle East Respiratory Syndrome is caused by a new coronavirus which the World Health Organization has named Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (also known as MERS-CoV). This virus was first isolated from the human body in 2012. This virus and the coronavirus which caused severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in 2003 belong to the same family. For the time being, the affected areas are mostly located in the Middle East, while cases of infections are reported one after another in Europe, America and Asia, and are found to have a direct or indirect relation to the Middle East countries. |
