Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) participated in the "Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Night Parade", organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, on the first day of the Chinese New Year. MGTO Director João Costa Antunes attended the Night Parade when the "Experience Macau!" float promoted Macau's tourism to the Hong Kong and overseas audiences.

Through the participation in the Chinese New Year Parade in Hong Kong, MGTO gave her blessings to the Hong Kong people, as well as tourists coming from all over the world.  MGTO showcased the tourism elements in Macau and to further enhance the regional tourism cooperation of the Pearl River Delta.

With the slogan "A World of Difference, the Difference is Macau", MGTO continues to employ the promotional theme "Experience Macau!". The float is designed to feature the theme of "Experience Macau!" showcasing Macau's unique blend of cultures and diversity. The float was decorated with heritage sites such as the Ruins of St. Paul's, the Guia Lighthouse and the A-Ma Temple, alongside the modern infrastructure of the San Van Bridge. There were also series of colourful light-boxes showing the essence of the city with the five senses "See, Taste, Feel, Hear, Touch". The stimulating Grand Prix racing kart model and special fireworks bring out the uniqueness of Macau. MGTO has also invited 2008 Miss Macau to greet the parade audiences from the float.

Under the objectives of diversifying tourism products and source markets, MGTO will utilize tourism resources to enhance the development of cultural tourism and different thematic tour routes. Furthermore, to tie in with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Macau SAR, MGTO will launch various promotional activities with focus on the "Historic Center of Macau" through MGTO's 17 overseas representatives, including familiarization tours on World Heritage sites, large-scale photo exhibitions and roadshows.

The International Chinese New Year Parade was launched in 1996 in Hong Kong, following the format of some reputable parades in foreign countries (such as the New Year Rose Parade in USA). Held during the Chinese New Year period, the night parade provides a brand-new highlight for both residents and tourists to enjoy the festivity of Chinese New Year. After years of development, the night parade has become an international mega show which attracts a large number of visitors during the period, acting as an important platform of promoting tourism in the region.
