Published on 2003/06/19

Macau has successfully won the bid to host the meeting of WTO Regional Commission for East Asia and the Pacific in 2004. This not only marks a closer tie between Macau and WTO, but that Macau's attempt to establish itself as the undisputed MICE (meeting, incentive, conference, exhibition) center takes a giant stride forward.

WTO Regional Commission for East Asia and the Pacific has announced in Manila yesterday (19th) that the meeting of WTO Regional Commission for East Asia and the Pacific in 2004 will be held in Macau. In conjunction with the meeting, an international conference with the theme "Heritage" will also be organized. Secretary-General of WTO, tourism ministers and representatives from the tourism industry of the East Asia and Pacific nations will come to Macau to participate.

Macau Government Tourist Office expressed that winning the right to stage the meeting of WTO Regional Commission for East Asia and the Pacific in 2004 shows that Macau not only have superb convention facilities but also excellent supporting infrastructure and many tourism attractions. As the host city, Macau will spare no effort to dedicate its best service to the guests and hope that through the staging of these international meetings, the profile of Macau will be significantly raised and the tourism industry be boosted. At the same time, Macau will certainly gain more valuable experience for MICE development.
