Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) is conducting in South Korea a destination promotion travel mart under the theme "Experience Macau! Celebrations", to promote Macau's tourism and provide the travel trade of both sides with new contacts and business opportunities.
MGTO held on the 17th and the 19th, respectively, in Seoul and Busan a briefing about Macau tourism industry followed by a travel mart and a dinner under the title "Experience Macau! Celebrations". During the dinner, it was displayed a video edited by MGTO in Korea for the Macau SAR 10th anniversary, with the main changes in the city, developments of the tourism industry and promotional activities held in Korea for the last ten years.
For the seminar and the travel mart, MGTO in Korea prepared a guidebook of the travel mart delegation in Korean with all the details about the Macau tourism industry representatives and their products, to support the contacts between the travel trade of both sides. To promote the Macau destination travel mart, MGTO divulged the event in six main tourism publications in South Korea.
MGTO Marketing Division head, Betty Fok, leads the Macau delegation to Korea. The Macau tourism industry representatives participating in the trip come from areas such as air and maritime transportation, travel agencies, hotels, exhibition and convention centers. More than 200 travel trade and media participated on the activities held on each of the two cities.
South Korea is one of the priority markets of Macau. MGTO representative office in Korea organizes all year round promotion activities about Macau in South Korea to attract more visitors to the city. In 2008 South Korea was the 7th biggest visitor market to Macau, with close to 280,000 visitors. Currently, Air Macau operates four flights a week between Macau and Seoul.
