Pyrofel Pirotecnia, Lda., won the 14th International Fireworks Display Contest. The prize presenting ceremony was held at the Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Center, where Director of Macau Government Tourist Office, Manuel Costa Antunes presented the top prize of US$6,000, trophy and certificate to the winner. France, the first runner up and China, second runner up won US$3,200 and US$1,800 respectively, plus trophies and certificates.

Mr Antunes noted in his speech that the spectacular event not only brought joy to the citizens and tourists, but also play the role to promote Macau to the world.

Ten teams from far and wide - Australia, Korea, Philippines, Taiwan, Portugal, Thailand, Germany, Japan, China and France displayed their unique style of pyrotechnic skills at the contest.

This year, MGTO launched the Macau Fireworks Fiesta 2002, ushering in a variety of special events including the Fireworks Carnival jointly organized by MGTO and the Macau General Union of Neighbors Association, to add sparkle to the party. Local residents and visitors turned out in droves for the festivities and to sample the wares at the 30 stalls set up along the waterfront while enjoying the vibrant fireworks.
