1. The 20th Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) is held in Hong Kong from 14 – 17 March. Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) made their joint debut at FILMART and invited 12 entities from Macao’s film and television industry to the event, whereby to meet and explore business opportunities with worldwide industry professionals in “Macao Pavilion” jointly run by the two offices. MGTO invited media from Macao to inspect FILMART and visit “Macao Pavilion” today (15 March). 2. There is a networking area in “Macao Pavilion” for 12 local film and TV entities to introduce their business and meet with their counterparts from around the world. The pavilion also highlights the International Film Festival & Awards‧Macao, to be held from 8 – 13 December 2016.

3. MGTO hosted a media reception in Hong Kong on 15 March, attended by around 120 members of the press and the film and television industry in Hong Kong and Macao. International Film Festival & Awards‧Macao Festival Director Marco Müller and Festival Ambassador Johnnie To gave their remarks during the reception, followed by a toasting ceremony with major guests. 

4. During the media reception, MGTO Director Senna Fernandes remarked that Macao is making a great effort not only to transform the city into a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure but also to foster economic progress toward moderate diversification, with one of its endeavors to promote the cultural and creative industry development. Film and television production is among the local sectors with an immense potential to thrive in the future. She added that the International Film Festival & Awards‧Macao will be held from 8 – 13 December 2016, jointly organized by MGTO and Macau Films & Television Productions and Culture Association. An organizing committee will be established to conduct the preparation work. More details will be announced soon.
