To celebrate the 50th Macau Grand Prix, the Macau Government Tourist Office has carried out extensive renovation and modernization of the Grand Prix Museum. Visual and sound facilities, descriptions, and related information of races are being updated.

Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Dr. Chui Sai On this evening (13th) officiated at the Grand Prix Museum Reopening Ceremony and the Tribute to Teddy Yip. The family members of Teddy Yip attended the ceremony.

The Grand Prix Museum, which was opened on the 18 November 1993, is designed to help both the local population and visitors to Macau appreciate the history of the Grand Prix, with a collection of magnificent machines that have raced the Guia circuit over the years.

First held in 1954, the Macau Grand Prix is the longest running international city circuit race in the world, and one of the most respected motor racing events on the international calendar. World-class drivers such as Alan Jones, Ricardo Patrese, Ayrton Senna, Mika Hakinnen, David Coulthard and the Schumacher brothers battled on the Guia circuit. The Macau Grand Prix has been recognized as a testing ground for future Formula One competitors.

With the support of millions of motorsport fans, the Macau Grand Prix has reached the very highest international standards. Teddy Yip who has played a greater role in the development of the Macau Grand Prix, passed away on 11th July this year at the grand old age of 90.

Mr. Teddy Yip's famous Theodore Racing Team achieved tremendous success in the international motorsport, with Ayrton Senna winning the Macau Grand Prix in 1983.

It was the vast enthusiasm and commitment of Mr. Teddy Yip, also known as "Mr. Macau Grand Prix", who put the Macau Grand Prix firmly on the international motorsport map.

Grand Prix Museum has set up the "Tribute to Teddy Yip" to demonstrate his contributions to the Macau Grand Prix. Mr. Teddy Yip will be in our hearts forever.
