Commissioner for Tourism of the Hong Kong SAR Government, Au King-chi led a delegation to Macau and was received by Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Chui Sai On today (April 16).

The delegation comprising of the Tourism Commission of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Hong Kong Tourism Board and Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong held a meeting with Macau Government Tourist Office to strengthen cooperation and joint promotions in tourism aspects of the two places.

Members of the delegation also included Executive Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board Anthony Lau, Chairman of the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong Ronnie Ho and Deputy Commissioner for Tourism Joey Lam.

Director of MGTO João Manuel Costa Antunes, Deputy Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes and Manuel Pires and heads of relevant departments had discussions with the delegation on three issues: Honest and Quality Tourism, multi-destination itineraries and new holiday and paid leave policy on the Mainland during the meeting held this morning.

"Macau and Hong Kong have their own distinctive tourism features that, when complemented with each other, can achieve a win-win situation for the tourism industry of the two places. The meeting today offers a very valuable opportunity for the tourism departments of Macau and Hong Kong to further strengthen cooperation in tourism aspects." Antunes said.

"The meeting provided an effective platform for officials and tourism organizations of both sides to exchange views on tourism policy issues of mutual concern, and to foster collaboration and partnership in tourism development and promotion between the two places. It has been a useful discussion." Au King-chi said.

Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Chui Sai On hosted a welcome luncheon for the delegation after the meeting. Secretary Chui, Chief of Cabinet of the Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Alexis Tam, Secretary General of the Tourism Development Committee Nadia Leong, Deputy Coordinator of the Macau Grand Prix Committee as well as Outbound Tourism Crisis Management Office members also attended the luncheon.

Some members of the delegation took part in group meetings with representatives from MGTO departments in the afternoon, while others joined a site inspection to new hotels, MICE facilities and border checkpoints.
