Macau Grand Prix Promotional Activities Launched in Hong Kong

The Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO), and the Macau Grand Prix Committee (MGPC) working in close cooperation, continue to stage a host of promotional activities for the Macau Grand Prix.
A Macau Grand Prix Golden Jubilee dinner was held in Hong Kong today (September 18, 2003), with representatives from the Hong Kong tourism and related industries, as well as VIPs from the field of motorsport attending. In addition, Dr. Chui Sai On, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, addressed members of the Foreign Correspondents' Club at a luncheon to introduce Macau's tourism policy, and provide the latest news on the 50th Macau Grand Prix.
Following on from the promotional activities held in Foshan recently, MGTO and MGPC continue their promotional program in Hong Kong. Dr. Chui Sai On, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture led members of MGTO and MGPC to Hong Kong, including Mr. João Manuel Costa Antunes, Coordinator of the Macau Grand Prix Committee and Director of MGTO; Ms. Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes and Mr. Manuel Goncalves Pires Junior, Deputy Directors of MGTO, and Ms Davina Chu, Deputy Coordinator of MGPC, and members of the MGPC. Joining them for the visit to Hong Kong were members of the Macau Tourism Development Committee, MGTO and MGPC.
Wide international media coverage plays an essential role in promoting the Grand Prix overseas. The Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture addressed 20 some members of the Foreign Correspondents' Club, most of which are Hong Kong correspondents of international news organizations. The Secretary explained Macau's tourism policy and introduced the latest information of the Grand Prix to the attendees before the luncheon.
In the evening, MGTO and MGPC organized a Macau Grand Prix Golden Jubilee dinner in Hong Kong. Two hundred guests from the Hong Kong and Macau tourism industry and related fields, as well as long-time supporters and racing drivers of the Grand Prix attended the dinner. A number of VIPs also joined the event, including representatives from the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific Airways, Hong Kong Association of Travel Agents, Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Organizers' and Suppliers' Association and Hong Kong Hotels Association.
Mr. João Manuel Costa Antunes, Coordinator of MGPC and Director of MGTO addressed the guests and announced details of the 50th Macau Grand Prix and Macau Grand Prix Golden Jubilee Carnival at the dinner. Seventeen amateur models from Macau showed a collection of 44 specially designed, Grand Prix-themed outfits by four Macau designers.
MGTO and MGPC will continue Macau Grand Prix promotional activities in Hong Kong this weekend (September 20), with a major promotional event to be held at Whampoa Garden, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
