Published on : 2002/05/16
The Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) cooperates with the Hong Kong Metro Broadcast Corporation Limited, and the Metro Broadcast Radio Drama of Hong Kong Metro Broadcast Corporation Limited will produce a radio play called "Wish you were here". Hacken Lee, Miriam Yeung, Bo Bo Chan and Bernard Chow, all famous Hong Kong artists, are to be the leading characters of the radio play. The objective is to spread Macau's unique culture through the ether to all Hong Kong residents, especially to young audiences so as to attract more people to come to visit Macau.
MGTO has held a press conference at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to introduce the respective content of the play. The participants included Ms. Cecilia Tse, MGTO's Head of Promotion Department, Ms. Betty Fok, MGTO's Head of Marketing Division, Mr. Kam Kwok Leung, CEO of Metro Broadcast Corporation Limited, Mr. Chu Ming Yui, Program Director of Metro Showbiz, Ms. Perrie Lai, Head of Metro Broadcast Radio Drama, and the four main characters of the play.
Macau has been attaching great importance to Hong Kong, its vital source market, and MGTO is publicizing Macau to Hong Kong people through various promotional activities, as well as participating in the international trade fairs in Hong Kong every year.
This is the first time that MGTO is cooperating with Hong Kong's electronic media in a radio play. Instead of the traditional road show promotional campaigns, Metro Broadcast Radio Drama is going to produce an inspirational radio play of 15 episodes, in which elements of relaxation, vitality and some European characteristics of Macau will feature prominently. After having broadcast each episode, a leading character of the radio play will introduce one particular tourism spot in Macau.
During the press conference, Ms. Cecilia Tse expressed: "We wish that the radio play would inspire more Hong Kong people to visit Macau, to experience the scenes of the play in reality, so as to boost the Macau tourism industry".
At the same time, the homonymous "Wish you were here" photograph contest welcomes Hong Kong residents to join in. The photos have to be taken in Macau, in order to let Hong Kong tourists share their precious moments in Macau to a wider audience.
