SAR Government provides assistance to Macau residents stranded in Thailand

The Macau SAR Government has chartered a flight to bring back over a hundred and fifty Macau residents stranded in Thailand tomorrow (Nov 29), and will continue to closely monitor the development of events and provide every practical assistance to Macau residents in need of help.

The Outbound Tourism Crisis Management Office (GGCTE) held a press conference this evening at which Coordinator of GGCTE João Manuel Costa Antunes expressed that the SAR Government has contracted an A-321 airbus from Air Macau, which will depart from U-Tapao Airport in Thailand at 2 pm (local time) tomorrow (Nov 29) to bring back stranded Macau residents. The charter flight is expected to arrive in Macau in the evening.

Antunes said that the charter flight will take 114 visitors from 6 Macau tour groups stranded in Bangkok as well as individual visitors who have contacted and confirmed their seats with GGCTE back to Macau.

He noted that the related charges, including rental for the charter flight and transportation fee from Bangkok to U-Tapao, will be paid by the SAR Government. The estimated budget will not exceed MOP 500,000.

GGCTE is closely monitoring the development of events and is providing every practical assistance to Macau residents stranded in Thailand. The office had received 70 inquiries up to the release time of the notice.
